The area manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a single large or multiple departments in conjunction with senior distribution center (dc) management. Review and revise business practices continuously to improve operational standards thereby resulting in lowering the costs of operating the responsible departments. The candidate will perform the more complex general activities (e.g. troubleshooting). S/he will make work assignments, schedules, and review work in progress. Handle personnel actions including performance review and salary recommendations. Improve and modify standard procedures. Assure adequate documentation/support of transactions and reports. The applicant will supervise the daily routine activities of business or technical support or production team. Receive and execute detailed direction on process and procedures. S/he may coordinate work activities with other supervisors. Motivate resources to meet production or service standards. Tactical situation outside of normal operating condition handled according to documented procedures and past practice. Unfamiliar situation escalated for a solution and documented for future reference. Serve as a technical resource for development of future priorities. The incumbent is 50% accountable for managing dc hourly associate daily performance and consistently delegating responsibilities to dc lead and associates. S/he is 30% responsible for supporting a continuous improvement culture, provides consistent feedback to lead, and associates. This position is 20% responsible to ensure that their workforce is fully utilized, cross-trained, and maintained at levels that minimize payroll cost. 10% responsible to partner with human resources to ensure organizational health, associate relations, staffing, training and development, compensation and benefits and all policy, practices, are handled fairly, consistent and within a timely manner.
Requirements
The candidate should have relevant 3
years of experience in retail logistics, warehousing and distribution. S/he should have the ability to lead others and ability to influence others without formal authority. S/he should have excellent verbal & written communication skills; innovativeness; integrity and trust; results oriented; action biased/self-starter; deals with ambiguity; business acumen and organizational savvy; customer focus; good listening skills; excellent analytical ability; outstanding planning and negotiation skills. The applicant should have the ability to improve existing systems, which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance. Proficient in ms office suite, specifically ms access and ms excel and knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) software applications. This job requires physical demands.

Bachelor degree in business or equivalent
