will be primarily responsible for the personal property function in the organization, along with compliance in the use tax area.
Provide audit, basic research, and analysis of the purchases to determine proper taxability.
A Day in the Life Responsible for the tax compliance for personal property taxes - collect data from fixed assets department, analyze and provide to the outsourced specialist to prepare the returns, review the returns and approval of the payments.
Handle all personal property audits which includes interaction with county auditors and stores when necessary.
Prepare monthly accruals and yearly budget for personal property expense account.
Review, research, and analyze all expense and fixed asset purchases for the company to determine the proper taxability.
Using an AP extract report, accrue all necessary tax.
Additionally, prepare monthly use tax schedules used to report tax to the proper taxing authorities.
Prepare monthly journal entries for the use tax accruals and distributions.
Assist in the reconciliation of the use tax general ledger account.
Research sales and use tax rules and regulations to determine the proper taxing of all purchases for the company.
Look for ways to improve current processes.
Perform miscellaneous responsibilities and projects as needed.
Assist with the use tax portion of the various audits.
Gather invoices, prepare schedules, and analyze the data for the auditor.
You'll Come With Bachelor's Degree (business, finance, tax, accounting preferred).
1-2 plus years of relevant experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (V/X - Lookups, Pivot Tables, Sumifs).
Accounting and Tax knowledge, including compliance, research, process, and procedures.
Solid analysis, research, and audit skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective time management - manages multiple tasks; organized; on top of time sensitive tasks.
Effectively and professionally communicates with management and peers.
Handles transactions with auditors and vendors professionally and efficiently.
Solves moderate problems and analyzes alternatives.
