Essential Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
Receive incoming materials and verify their accuracy against purchase orders or delivery documentation.
Unload, unpack, and inspect materials for damage or defects, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
Organize and store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper labeling, categorization, and inventory control.
Retrieve materials from storage areas and deliver them to the production lines or designated workstations as per production schedules.
Inventory Management:
Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels.
Update inventory records, tracking systems, or databases to reflect material movements, usage, and adjustments.
Replenish materials in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted production, collaborating with procurement or supply chain teams as needed.
Monitor stock levels, anticipate material shortages, and notify relevant departments or personnel to facilitate proactive replenishment.
Equipment and Tools:
Operate various equipment and tools necessary for material handling, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
Inspect and maintain equipment, reporting any malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns to the maintenance team.
Ensure proper storage and maintenance of material handling equipment, including battery charging, fueling, or other routine tasks.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of material movements, transactions, and inventory levels.
Generate reports on material usage, stock discrepancies, or other relevant metrics as required.
Assist in the preparation of shipping documents, packing slips, or other paperwork related to material movements.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Adhere to proper lifting techniques and safe material handling practices to prevent injuries.
Comply with relevant regulations, standards, or guidelines related to material handling, storage, and transportation.
Collaboration and Communication:
Coordinate with production, procurement, and other departments to ensure efficient material flow and availability.
Communicate any material-related issues, delays, or concerns to appropriate personnel, such as supervisors, buyers, or quality control staff.
Collaborate with team members to optimize material handling processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting ideas or implementing measures to enhance material handling efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
Provide feedback and suggestions to improve inventory control, material flow, or warehouse layout.
Required Skills, Knowledge &
Experience:
Proficiency in using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems.
Basic computer skills for data entry and using inventory management systems.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory records.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, follow safety guidelines, and work in a physically demanding environment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in material handling or forklift operation are a plus.
Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
